Thirteen years post qualifying experience in various settings including Youth Service, Schools and Cnnexions. Roles include project development/management, youth justice, management/supervision, and training


Rose Adams


Bsc (Hons), PGCE

Fifteen years post-qualifying experience in a variety of settings including schools, YOS, voluntary organisations, and housing associations. Roles include teaching, drugs work, project work, youth justice, housing management and training .

 

The following offers some examples & brief descriptions of the standard modules we deliver. However these can be extended or tailored to an organisation's needs. This could include 'stand alone' modules for example team building, boundaries & confidentiality.



EXAMPLE SESSION A
Examine the role of the Youth Worker and their professional relationships
with Young People including personal value base & motivation.

Explore the role of the Youth Worker and show an understanding regarding relationship boundaries including expectations.

Explore the issues, challenges & opportunities facing & impacting on the lives of young people .

 

EXAMPLE SESSION C
Examine effective ways of communication e.g. non-verbal

Explore barriers of effective communication

How to respond appropriately to what is being communicated

 




EXAMPLE SESSION B
Develop an understanding of potential legal obligations e.g. child protection

Explore policies & procedures which relate to their practice e.g. equal opportunities and how these become an integral part of the role.

 

 

 



EXAMPLE SESSION D
Analyse stages of relationship between youth worker & young people.

Explore potential outcomes of the relationship.

Recognise relationships have beginning, middle & ends & how to appropriately move young people on

Examine support structures which enhance practice
